What to expect

My name is Adriana. I am a practising psychologist and therapist with over 30 years of experience. People often seek therapy when several things in their lives feel difficult at once. Together, we take time to identify what feels most important to work on first, creating a clear and manageable focus and plan. By addressing one area at a time, positive change often ripples into other parts of life. I see this as creating a shared roadmap— one that brings structure, reduces the overwhelm, and is entirely unique to you.

Therapy offers a private and supportive space to begin unravelling what is going on and to explore practical ways to cope and make change. We work by breaking things down into small, manageable steps, because nothing is too small. Even small changes can build confidence and create momentum for further progress, both within sessions and in between them.

My approach begins with listening: what has brought you to therapy and to your experience of yourself and your life. From this, we build a shared understanding and decide on the most appropriate evidence-based therapeutic approach for you. Regular reviews help us reflect on progress and adjust focus where needed, recognising that therapy has a natural beginning, middle, and end.

What can therapy help with?

Mental health and positive mental health and wellbeing are recognised as key pillars of health. At Live Life Not Strife, it is a priority to ensure you have the right grounding in order to boost your mental and physical wellbeing. I offer a broad range of evidence-based psychological therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and its specialist applications, psychodynamic and solution-focused approaches, couples therapy, counselling, and motivational work. All of which is tailored to you, drawing on the most appropriate therapeutic method to meet your needs, recognising that one-size does not fit all!

I work with a wide variety of psychological and emotional difficulties, whether you have a diagnosed mental health condition or not. Some of the many areas supported include anxiety and depression, bereavement, trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, addiction, relationship issues, work-related stress, bullying and harassment, confidence issues, as well as fertility concerns, and major life transitions such as divorce. I also work with young people and families from the age of 12.

Following my 30+ years of practice as a psychologist, I have developed specialist expertise in the psychological impact of physical health conditions, including cardiac, neurological, gastrointestinal, gynaecological, musculoskeletal, and oncological conditions, as well as psychophysiological disorders and physical disability. I help you develop effective coping strategies and improve overall well-being.
