Understanding PTSD
What is PTSD?
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Trauma affects everyone differently, and not everyone who experiences trauma will develop PTSD.
Common symptoms can include:
- Flashbacks or nightmares
- Feeling constantly on edge or easily startled
- Avoiding people, places, or situations that remind you of the event
- Difficult emotions such as fear, guilt, anger, or sadness
- Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
PTSD is not a sign of weakness—it’s a response to overwhelming experiences, and recovery is possible with the right support.
If you or someone you know is struggling, you don’t have to face it alone. Talking to a trusted person or a mental health professional can be an important first step.
