PTSD isn’t just about flashbacks

Man sat on floor with his head buried in his knees. Its not just about flashbacks.

Not Every PTSD Trigger Looks Like a Flashback

When people think of PTSD, they often imagine someone reliving a traumatic event.

But triggers can be much quieter than that.

Sometimes it’s:

* Feeling anxious when someone raises their voice.

* Becoming overwhelmed in a crowded supermarket.

* Shutting down during conflict without knowing why.

* Feeling exhausted after a family gathering.

* Panicking when your phone rings unexpectedly.

* Feeling guilty for needing to leave a room.

To someone else, these reactions might seem “too much.”

But trauma isn’t about what’s happening now—it’s about what your nervous system learned then.

Your brain isn’t trying to make your life difficult.

It’s trying to keep you alive using strategies that once made sense.

The goal of therapy isn’t to convince your brain it was wrong.

It’s to gently help it realise that not every reminder is a threat anymore.

Healing begins when we stop asking,

“What’s wrong with me?”

and start asking,

“What happened to me, and what does my nervous system need now?”

💚 Healing isn’t about erasing the past. It’s about helping your body feel safe in the present.

Its okay to ask for help.
